Opinion Writing Preview Activity

Inequalities evident in campus sports

2. The story was about the inequality in sports teams and extracurricular activities on the issue of attire for girls. The story states that both men and women should be given the same opportunities and should be enforced with the same rules. Women should be able to where sports bras if men get to take off there shirts.
3.Women should be able to where sports bras if men get to take off there shirts.  As stated "Girls should be allowed to remove there shirts and just wear a sports bra to cool down as long as guys are allowed to run without a shirt."

2. The story was about the new updates on the iPhone 7 and the reactions and controversy around it.
3. The direct opinion around the topic was that the author favored the iPhone 7 to any other phone and liked the updates that came with it.

Stricter Finals Incentive

2. The story was about the changes and limitations Bowie administration has put on the use of incentives for students from the previous years and how the writer thinks it is unfair.
3. The writer felt aggravated and that it was unfair to limit incentives.

Changes to schedule cause issues both in school and after school

2. The story was about the changes AISD made to the schedule at Bowie and how it affect students in a negative way.
3. The opinion of the story was that these new rules to the schedule are unproductive and are unfair to some students.

5. They were a little wishy washy when they said "It would also be helpful if AISD were to extend FIT to at least 35 minutes, even if it meant keeping the 4:30 p.m. release times." This statement was counterproductive to his opinion against having fit everyday and the release time.

2. The story was about the increase in EpiPen costs for the pure greed of the company.
3. The direct opinion of the topic was the writer thought that the increase in price for something that someone needs to survive is "inhumane and ridiculous."

A. The major differences between a hard news story and an opinion piece are

  1. Hard news stories do not allow bias or opinions while opinion pieces do.
  2. Opinion pieces have less of a structure then news stories
  3. There is certain criteria for what is considered news but for opinions there really is none. 

B. I think there isn't that many photos because the graphic needs to express the opinion stated and photos can be controversial

C. Three topics I think would be good to write about are the use of voting rights in this years election,   Controversy over social media, and other things relating to everyday life.
