Long Response:
DNA scientists do not feel comfortable coming back to the Crime lab after it has closed. Two of the crime scientists do not want to work with four of the other scientists in return for returning to work at the Austin crime lab. Many complications and scandals have been around this department that arise conflict with cases. All these issues will be thoroughly investigated. It is crucial that DNA labs follow scientific rules to make sure the conclusion or outcome of the testing is correct. For a lot of cases DNA is key evidence in proving someone guilty or innocent. The lab closed initially because officials believed that the scientists were incorrectly testing DNA and breaking protocols. It is significant that these four people are not conducting DNA research anymore because the other two scientists feel uncomfortable around these people but also for these four scientists this is the only job that suits what they do. I also think that it is significant because the fact that these people don't want them to come back says something about them and their work ethic. I think this impacts our community by causing a sense of suspicion in this department and the insecurity of the results. I also think that only having a few scientists testing DNA will slow down a lot of cases from being solved. I think that the Austin Department should not be testing DNA but we should have a state wide lab that is souly for DNA testing and making sure the results are accurate.
